for Asher [power plot]
Sometimes, just sometimes, there were mornings when waking up to the sound of the ocean seemed almost normal. Today was one of those days and Ray found his frownline softening and his mouth curving up before he'd even opened his eyes. He knew Asher was there without needing to look and so he let himself lay quietly for a little while longer, still being lulled by the pull of sleep.
It was only natural that his mind would wonder back to the night before. He could still feel the satiation deep in his bones and it didn't exactly make him eager to get up. A mixture of charm and bribery might get Asher to agree to round two and Ray was pretty sure Fraser could handle the morning patrol on his own. Walking around in a circle for two hours was hardly demanding.
Resisting sleep seemed a bit stupid if only one of them was awake, so he rolled over and pushed himself toward Asher. If he woke up too, then the decision was made for him and Ray could start to switch on the charm. If he continued to sleep, then Ray would have no qualms about rejoining him.
Waking up next to Asher didn't quite feel normal yet, but it still managed to put a smile on his face just the same.

What his arm wrapped around instead was cool and rough, kinda like an alligator's hide. He squeezed his eyes briefly before opening them.
They stayed open - very, very open - and for a moment, he was frozen where he was. It was beyond comprehension. It was so unnormal that it made waking up next to Asher seem like an every second occurance.
He had a freaking dinosaur in his bed and not in a metaphorical way. That was the moment Ray started screaming and pulling away and scrambling as fast as he possibly could to get out of the bed. It wasn't necessarily in that order though.

"What?!" Asher said, pushing himself up with taloned front claws. "What is it?!" It better have fucking been good. If Ray wasn't actually about to die, Asher would make sure he'd wish he were after that awakening.
...taloned front claws?
Once it clicked, it was Asher's turn to scream, only his came out as a series of high screeches and hollow barks, before he started charging around the cramped area in a blind panic.

It was only when he was halfway to the door that he noticed the flowers. Springing up around his feet, circling his knees and entwining themselves together. Every one was brightly coloured and sweet smelling and no amount of hopping on the spot unstuck them from his feet. They were the flowers for his grave, he could tell.
"Asher!!!" He yelled, already thinking the worst. His bofriend was probably mulch in the dinosaur's stomach. This was what he got for thinking maybe the island wasn't so bad just for one morning.

Still plenty distraught, Asher paused momentarily once he noticed the garden in bloom at Ray's feet. Yeah, that was gay as fuck.
"It's me, you idiot!" Did he think one of the dinos got loose and decided to spoon with him in the middle of the night instead of maul him to death?

Ray was nearly knocked off his feet when the dino roared again. Paralysed with fear didn't even begin to describe it. "Oh my God..." He whined, unsure whether to make any more sudden movements or not. The terror was etched into his features. He made a futile attempt to control his breathing.
The flowers were kinda itchy beneath his bare feet as he began to slowly, oh so slowly, edge backwards. He brought up his arms and ducked his head to try to make himself smaller.
"Please don't eat me," he got out through clenched teeth. "Niiiice dinosaur." He desperately wondered whether it liked dogs and would prefer to eat one of those instead.
no subject
"I'm not going to eat you. Stop making this about you! I'm the one that looks like something out of Jurassic Park!" He'd consider punching him in order to snap him out of it, but he couldn't actually make a proper fist.

But he had no defense. His gun was on the other side of the room and his dog was out sniffing butts. If he made it out of this alive, he was going to have a strong talk with Coop about false advertising.
"This is so fucking weeiiirrd," he murmured to himself, trying to avoid eye contact with the dino. When his back hit the wall of the hut, he dropped down really slowly and curled himself into a ball. That was how you survived bears, right? Only problem was his allergies. The flowers made him sneeze like hell.

Only five minutes into the day and he was already over it, except he knew it wasn't just going to be today. These things always lasted longer than he'd care for them to.
Realizing that, Asher made an about face and stalked back over to the bed. Once there, he jumped up onto it and flopped gracelessly down onto his side, his tail hanging off the edge. He wasn't moving until it was over.

And it had just gotten a whole lot weirder.
Peeking above his arms, he spotted a twitching tail, looking as agitated as he was. He had just enough brain power to believe that he was still alive, but there was nothing left to compute the utter insanity that was the dinosaur going back to bed.
"Hey!" He griped before he could stop himself, but he snapped his mouth shut straight after. That was it, that was the extent of his mauling? Was he not good enough to eat?

Letting out a sharp breath through his nose, he shifted in an attempt to get comfortable while continuing to completely ignore Ray. He'd see how he liked it.
no subject
Where the fuck was Asher? If he'd disappeared in the middle of the night and was safe and sound in the Compound, then Ray was going to haunt the hell out him if he died trying to find him.
Crawling on his hands and knees, Ray snuck towards the debris of a broken chair, one of the victims of the dinosaur so far. Grabbing a wooden leg, he stood on wobbly legs and brandished the make-shift stake.
"Asher!" He called again, eyes skipping around the room for any sign of him, before landing quickly on the dino. "Asher! I swear to God if you've eaten him I will be so pissed off."
no subject
So the ignoring didn't last long, but it was only because Ray kept making it about him. Maybe he wouldn't be eating anyone, but biting Ray, at the very least, seemed deserved at that point.
no subject
For lack of any better ideas, he raised the stake and took a step forward to stand his ground.
"Shoo!"

The order might have had more clout if he'd been wearing clothes and wasn't currently standing in a patch of daisies. This must have been what Adam felt like when Eve had pissed him off.
It was a bold and daring move but there was only one thing he wanted in his bed with him and that wasn't Barney. When he reached the foot of it, he grabbed the tail hanging off the end and started to pull.
no subject
With a forceful flick of his tail, he pulled himself free. Ray had really only succeeded in pissing him off. Wasn't there some sort of rule about letting sleeping dinos lie? If not, there should have been. Especially on the island.
Forced out of bed (again) by Ray (again), Asher advanced on him. "What the ever loving fuck is your... problem?"
Somewhere between Ray and the bed, he'd gone from the 65 million year old form, back to his typical five-hundred year old one. Turning back to the bed, he grabbed a sheet to cover himself up with. Starting back toward Ray, he punched him in the arm.
"Next time I want you out of bed, I put a vice grip on your dick and yank."
no subject
"Not my--!" His hands cupped his nuts and his eyes all but rolled back in his head when the animal shifted into Asher. The swift thump to his arm brought him out of it. "What just happened?!" His voice was high, almost like the vice grip was already in place.
no subject
As he spoke, he went about gathering his clothes from the floor, kicking the top hat aside. He still had no idea where it came from. They've used cuffs before, but fashion accessories?
no subject
"Oh my God, I thought you'd been eaten." Whole, considering the lack of blood stains anywhere. He pulled back just as quickly and gave Asher his own thump on the arm. "I also thought you'd run away and left me here with it."

Maybe that was what happened when you reached a certain age? You literally turn into a dinosaur?
"Don't do that again. I had a stroke, Asher."

"The prison's empty," he remembered, sitting up. "If you need it. But who says it's gonna happen again? Maybe that was it." A quick morning fuck and not the good kind.

"Let me know you're alright, okay? Send me a smoke signal or something every few hours." He didn't really relish the idea of trudging into dino territory to find out if Asher was still alive and kicking but that didn't mean he wouldn't.

"A handshake? You're giving me a handshake?"
That was it?

Leaning down and giving Ray a kiss, he pulled away after a moment, adjusting his collar as he headed for the door. "Mind your shoes." With all that flowers sprouting up at his feet, there was no telling how many close calls with dogs looking to take care of business he was going to have.

Ray barely had time to close his eyes before Asher had pulled away and the hand he'd reached up to keep him there was left grasping at air. At least there wasn't any dino breath.
Resisting the urge to stop him from leaving, Ray nodded his head in silence and just hoped the next time he saw him he'd still be in one piece.
